Opening 12th May with Animated film Screenings at Globe Cinema

An exhibition of prints and original artwork from animated films
by Jill Carter-Hansen and Bruce Petty


For its fourth show, Can't Buy Me Love... , Silicon Pulp Animation Gallery will be featuring prints, storyboards cel set-ups and original artwork from Bruce Petty's latest film 'Money' and Jill Carter-Hansen award winning 'Songs of the Immigrant Bride'

For the opening night on Wednesday 12th May 1999, Silicon Pulp will present an evening of Animated Film Screenings at the nearby Globe Cinema, Stanmore. Films by both artists will be featured, as well as a selection from other Silicon Pulp exhibitors.

Bruce Petty and Jill Carter-Hansen are both Sydney based artists whose animated films have won critical acclaim internationally, with Bruce Petty receiving an Oscar for his short film 'Leisure' in 1977 - Petty is still the only Australian to have received an Academy Award for Animation!

Bruce Petty, perhaps best known for his acidic political commentary - "equally unfair to everyone" - counterbalanced by Jill Carter-Hansen's intuitive new wave mythology. Whereas Petty's work is founded in his satirical cartooning and social observation, Carter-Hansen's stems from her fine art background in painting and photography and her evolutionary aspirations.

Both have taken traditional artforms and catapulted them into the new millenium via computer manipulation, laser imaging technology, Apple Mac computers and inspired mania.

Signed limited edition digital prints from Bruce Petty's 'Money' and original artwork and oil paintings from Jill Carter-Hansen's 'Songs of the Immigrant Bride' will be available for purchase from Silicon Pulp Animation Gallery.
